Design and planning of a meeting and workshop space at the main offices of Kapsch

The interior team of BWM Architekten planned a workshop and meeting space at the main offices of Kapsch in Vienna with the best possible acoustics and lighting for internal and external project presentations. The room creates a special atmosphere that whisks visitors away from their normal daily work routine. It was specially planned for concentrated project work.

Workshop participants enter the room through an anthracite-coloured lobby with a cloakroom and storage area, which give a foretaste of the atmosphere awaiting them inside. The three-shade horizontal colour gradation – from dark brown to light beige – used in the workshop space itself creates a sense of harmony. The gradations pervade every detail and are accentuated by joint gaps. The space is almost completely panelled – like an acoustic and visual space capsule. Fabric wallpaper and colour-coordinated carpets add warmth. The wall panelling incorporates built-in seating of various heights and cleverly integrates storage space. The continuous underlighting of these elements enhances the concentrated atmosphere.
