Exhibition design for “The Metropolis Experiment – Vienna and the 1873 World Exhibition”
5 May 2014 – 28 September 2014
Tuesday to sunday and public holidays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This exhibition focuses on the world’s fair of 1873, the largest of its time. BWM based its design on the overarching principle of “reconstruction”. Rough surfaces and scaffolding tubes are used as simple construction materials. The various sections of the exhibition are colour coded, making it easier for visitors to find their way around. “The Metropolis Experiment” is the second exhibition – after “Struggle for the City”, also designed by BWM – in which Wien Museum presents a comprehensive, panoramic view of an era.
