As part of the celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of wohnfonds_wien, the site of the former Theodor-Körner barracks in Penzing was honoured with the Wiener Wohnbaupreis (Vienna Housing Award) 2024 as the ‘best neighbourhood’. The partial development has created an open urban neighbourhood with a wide variety of urban uses that blends in very well with its surroundings. ‘Overall, the project proves that supposed obstacles, such as consistent tree protection in this case, with all the resulting effort, can become a special feature that has a lasting effect,’ said the jury.
