Good Gastein
1970s Italo-disco glam.
The modern pizzeria/bar GOOD GASTEIN has found a stylish new home in the Bad Gastein convention centre, complete with a fresh makeover by BWM. The concept is a nod to the golden days of this iconic, posh ski resort, where past and present come together in perfect harmony, and where Italo-disco meets ’70s glam – a place where you can grab a Neapolitan pizza by day and sip cocktails to DJ beats by night.
A vibrant new space has come to life inside the convention centre, which is otherwise still unused. Bathed in a rich, deep red colour, it creates a striking contrast to Gerhard Garstenauer’s signature concrete-heavy architecture. The original coffered ceiling now boasts bold red paint, with integrated lighting adding a dynamic touch. The playful Italo-chic vibe carries through the space with faceted mirrors and the neon signature statement – “Bad Gastein is Good Gastein”– glowing both inside and out. And of course, disco balls are the literal ultimate highlight. The retro-metallic look is underlined by the stainless-steel tiles behind the bar as well as the metal cladding on the bar itself, while terrazzo flooring adds a fresh, modern touch. Dark wood tones in the furniture and wall panelling bring warmth and balance to the space. By day, the venue seats around 54 guests, but by night, it transforms into a standing-room clubbing spot, accommodating up to 90 people.
The day-and-night concept continues in the restrooms. White tiles throughout and a suspended white metal grid ceiling set the tone, with integrated LED lighting that can change colour from red to blue to yellow – depending on the time of day. Golden details like the hand dryers and the wall lights add a touch of glam.
