Exhibiton Spurwechsel, Engineering museum Vienna
Speed – the central promise of motorization – is the basic design motif of the U-shaped, 1,600 m2 large exhibition hall divided into three directions. Each room sequence offers a specific dimension of experience of city traffic: the empty street at the beginning of the exhibition promises a free drive and is accompanied by large scale utopian fantasies of the 20th century. In the second part a traffic jam is exemplary for narrowness and stagnation. In the last sequence visitors are set right into Vienna’s traffic flow by means of room-high, synchronized video projections.
