The Metropolis Experiment – Vienna and the 1873 World Exhibition

This exhibition focuses on the 1873 world fair, the largest of its time. BWM Architekten’s design is based on the underlying theme of “reconstruction” and utilises rough surfaces and scaffolding tubes for the exhibition’s structures. The various sections of the exhibition are colour coded, making it easy for visitors to find their way around. “The Metropolis Experiment” is the second exhibition since “Struggle for the City” – also designed by BWM – in which Wien Museum presents a comprehensive, panoramic view of a particular era.
